Rack height, aisle width, mounting position and the working task determine the useful distribution. Lighting should support horizontal tasks and vertical visibility on stored goods without placing bright sources directly in normal sightlines.
Coordinate luminaires with the clear aisle rather than the rack tops, so the distribution reaches the floor and vertical storage faces.
High racks and handling equipment can block light. Check turning areas, intersections, pedestrian routes and pick faces separately.
Consider source brightness, viewing direction and transitions between warehouse zones as well as the calculated illuminance.

Define zones around actual movement patterns and sightlines. Loading doors, cross-aisles, open picking areas and continuously occupied workstations may need different behaviour from storage aisles.
Emergency coverage follows the building risk assessment and escape strategy rather than the normal warehouse-lighting grid alone. Access, testing and maintenance requirements should be defined before luminaire positions are finalised.
