How to read the graph

L70 means 70% of the original light remains.

A new luminaire starts at 100%. As its LEDs age, output gradually reduces. L70 is not the point when it fails or switches off—it is the point when output has fallen to 70% of its day-one level. Here, the Void is the example Lumenloop fitting; the grey line is a generic import example using an L70 rating at 50,000 hours.

Example comparison between the Void and a generic import alternative The Void uses its documented L90 B10 rating at sixty thousand hours. The generic import example uses an L70 rating at fifty thousand hours. Straight guides connect the initial output to those rated points.

Premium drivers

For relevant configurations, we specify established driver brands such as Tridonic and Philips. The exact make, model and control option should be confirmed for the selected luminaire.

Lower thermal stress

A considered drive current can reduce electrical and thermal stress. It must be balanced against the required output, efficacy and the design of the complete luminaire.

Efficient heat paths

Thermally efficient heat sinks help move heat away from LEDs and drivers. Material, contact, airflow and ambient temperature all influence the result.

The aim is not merely to keep working. It is to maintain useful light with fewer interventions.

Whole-life cost

The fitting is only the first item on the bill.

A quote shows the purchase price. Total cost of ownership also includes the electricity used and every intervention the fitting requires: access, labour, replacement parts and disruption to the space.

The lowest unit price is not necessarily the lowest-cost choice once the complete equation is considered.

Energy runs every hour

Compare actual luminaire input power for the required output, not LED package wattage in isolation. Then account for operating hours, controls and the energy tariff used by the project.

Every intervention has a site cost

A replacement can require survey time, procurement, an electrician, access equipment, isolation, disposal and making good. A difficult ceiling or live workplace increases the consequence.

Inconsistent light has a cost too

Early spot replacements can introduce visible differences in output or colour and create a mixed-age installation. The room may still be lit, but no longer to the intended standard.

Read the complete rating, not just the headline.

L90 describes the light retained
At the rated point, the luminaire is expected to retain 90% of its initial light output under the stated evidence and conditions.
B10 describes the expected population
B10 means no more than 10% of the specified population is expected to fall below that maintained-output level at the rated point.
60,000h describes the rated period
It is an operating-hours benchmark, not a warranty length or the moment a luminaire is guaranteed to fail.
L70 is not a switch-off date
It marks 70% maintained output. Whether that remains suitable depends on the lighting design, while drivers, controls, energy and maintenance still affect total ownership cost.

Compare like with like.

Ask both suppliers for evidence tied to the configuration you intend to buy. A headline specification is not enough if it describes a different output, driver or operating condition.
