A fitting for a dedicated workspace

Luma ceiling lights for your home office

A slim linear luminaire, with recessed optical cells and a choice of ceiling or suspended installation.

For a permanent home office desk or a separate study, Luma puts a controlled line of light above the working area. Its matt black dark-light baffles and office lens make it a practical choice to consider for screen-based work, without adding a table lamp to the desk.

Choose the body length, output and finish to suit the room, then specify the driver and mounting arrangement. Luma is built to order, so the quotation should cover the complete fitting and the accessories your installation needs.

The installation

Close to the ceiling.
Or suspended above the desk.

The same Luma family offers two mounting approaches. Decide how the fitting will sit in the room before choosing the suspension accessories and final specification.

Surface-mounted ceiling light

Surface mounting is the standard arrangement. The luminaire fixes at the ceiling rather than hanging on wires, keeping the body close to the mounting plane. It is an option to consider where you want a ceiling-mounted light without a pendant drop.

Suspended pendant light

Suspension lets Luma sit lower in the room, parallel to the desk. This arrangement needs a separate suspension kit. Confirm the drop and the relationship to the desktop, monitor and seated sightline rather than choosing a hanging height from the image alone.

Length and light output

Choose the fitting around the room.

Both Luma lengths offer lower, standard and higher-output variants. A longer body is not simply a substitute for more light, and the highest output is not automatically the right choice for a small study.

Use desk width, room dimensions, ceiling height, natural daylight and mounting position together when comparing options. The lumen figures below describe the fitting’s output; they do not state the illumination reaching a particular desk.

1,550 mm2,300–4,675 lm17–33 W3000K or 4000K

The exact output and power depend on the selected model. Send the room dimensions and a desk layout with your enquiry so the fitting can be discussed in context. Final quantities, spacing and light levels need a lighting calculation.

The optics

Dark-light baffles.
Controlled light.

The LED optical cells sit within the baffles, rather than behind an exposed continuous diffuser.

Luma’s standard matt black baffles and 50° office lens provide its low-glare optical design. An 80° wide-beam lens and white soft-light baffles are available options. Discuss the distribution and appearance you need before adding them to the specification.

Monitor position and the viewing direction still matter. A low-glare luminaire does not by itself establish a glare-free installation: fitting position, room surfaces and the relationship to the screen must be considered together.

Colour and control

Specify how the light
will look and operate.

Colour temperature and dimming are separate choices. Include the existing switch or control system in your enquiry so the driver, wiring and user control can be checked before ordering.

3000K warm white

The warmer white option to consider when you want the workspace lighting to sit alongside warmer lighting elsewhere in the home.

4000K white

The cooler white option to consider when that appearance better suits the study and the other lighting in the room.

These are separate model choices. Standard 3000K and 4000K fittings do not change between the two colour temperatures after installation.

Simple on/off

Specify the standard non-dimmable control gear for fixed-output operation. This is the straightforward choice where an ordinary switch is all you need.

Confirm the electrical supply and switching arrangement with the installer.

Wired dimming

SwitchDIM, DALI and DSI options use the appropriate control gear. They are different control arrangements, so the chosen driver must suit the intended switch, controller and wiring.

Send the make and model of an existing wall dimmer. A dimmable fitting is not automatically compatible with it.

Bluetooth dimming

A Bluetooth control option, including dimming, is available. Specify this when you want that control approach, and confirm the complete arrangement for operating the light.

Confirm the control interface and any commissioning requirements with the quotation.

Grey, white or black

RAL 9006 grey is the standard body finish, with RAL 9016 white and RAL 9005 black options. The body finish and baffle choice are separate specification decisions.

Your quotation

The complete fitting.
The right accessories.

Luma pricing depends on the selected length and output, body finish, control gear and mounting accessories. Suspended installations need the separate suspension kit included in the quotation. Give us the quantity and required date alongside the room details.

Ask for the quotation to identify the fitting, driver and accessories together. If you are still choosing between fixed output and dimming, include that in the brief so the alternatives can be discussed before you order.

Use the current Luma datasheet and installation information when planning the work. Fixing suitability, electrical supply, wiring and control compatibility need to be checked by the installer against the final specification.

Home office lighting questions

Can Luma be used above one home office desk?

Luma is a linear fitting to consider for a dedicated desk or study. Choose the body length, output, mounting and control arrangement against the room and working position. Send a room sketch and dimensions; a product’s lumen output alone cannot establish the light reaching your desktop.

What is included for a suspended installation?

Surface mounting is the standard arrangement. Suspension requires a separate kit, so ask for the luminaire and suspension accessories to be identified together in the quotation. Include the ceiling height, intended drop and desk position.

Should I choose 3000K or 4000K?

3000K has a warmer white appearance; 4000K is cooler. Consider how the fitting will sit alongside the other lighting in your home and which appearance you prefer for the study. These are separate Luma models, rather than a switchable colour-temperature setting on the standard fitting.

Will it work with my existing wall dimmer?

That needs to be checked against the exact dimmer, driver and wiring. Send the control make and model with your enquiry. SwitchDIM, DALI, DSI and Bluetooth are distinct arrangements; specifying a dimmable option does not establish compatibility with a domestic wall dimmer.

Can I get a quotation without knowing the model code?

Yes. Send the room size, ceiling height, desk position, mounting preference and any dimming requirement. Include the quantity, budget and required date. We can discuss the Luma options and identify the proposed model and accessories in the quotation.

Where can my installer check the technical information?

The Luma product page links the datasheet, installation guide and photometric files. Review the documents against the exact model and options being quoted, including mounting and control gear, before installation.
