The building
A workplace shaped by its setting.
Botanic House sits between Cambridge station and the historic city centre, with the University Botanic Garden alongside it. The building is more than an office address: its public-facing edge and relationship with the garden were part of the architectural brief.
A new civic threshold.
The scheme included a dedicated public space in front of the building, beside the Botanic Garden, with the historic War Memorial relocated there.
A deliberate principal elevation.
The north-facing frontage uses coloured fritting within silicone-bonded glazed panels to give the public edge a distinct identity.
That combination of large, adaptable floorplates and a highly visible public setting makes the project a useful reference point for workplace lighting supply: the luminaires need to support everyday office use without becoming an afterthought to the architecture.
